Divan Yolu Caddesi is the central avenue through the Sultanahmet Region. "Divan" means not only a piece of furniture, but a place to sit – and it was the Sultan's Council of Ministers who sat for many centuries at the Topkapi Palace – this assembly of Turkish nobles made their way there along this street.
