Looking at the Silver Towers one immediately forgets that he is standing in Hell's Kitchen and experiences the temporary illusion of being somewhere in the Wall Street district or even around Central Park. This 60-story, 199-meter-high apartment complex is surely the most prominent structure in the neighborhood, and apparently the loneliest.
The Silver Towers were built in 2009 by architect Costas Kondylis for Larry Silverstein, one of New York's leading real estate developers. Contemporaneously, Silverstein was rebuilding three towers in the World Trade Center that had collapsed during the 9/11 tragedy. Erected with the intention of enhancing the aesthetic look of Hell's Kitchen, as well as boosting residential construction in the area, the complex contains 1,359 apartments and boasts a 7-meter pool, which is the largest residential pool in New York City.
