The Admiralty is the central link in the magnificent ensemble of the city centre, joining as it does Palace and Senate Squares. Furthermore, the city's three foremost streets radiate away from the Admiralty – Nevsky Prospekt, Voznesensky Prospekt, and Gorokhovaya Street. The Admiralty Spire dominates the city skyline, and the boat-shaped weather-vane at the spire's top is the emblematic visiting-card of St Petersburg, and one of the city's best-known symbols. The Admiralty honourably copes with this responsible role in the city's life.
