Our tour around Rome's archaeological centre starts on the city's main square, Piazza Venezia. For Italians this is a holy place. Here you can see the Altare della Patria or the Altar of the Fatherland, and a monument to Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a unified Italy. After that we are going to the foot of the Capitoline Hill. Of the seven hills on which Rome stands, you could call the Capitoline Hill or Campidoglio the most important as it is here that you find the source of Ancient Roman civilisation.
Not far from Piazza del Campidoglio or Capitoline Square is the ancient Roman Forum. From the viewing platform, you will see a panorama opening up before your eyes including the ruins of the once massive area of the Forum, full of temples, triumphal arches and other buildings of antiquity. We will also tell you about the Imperial Forums, built in a later age. In Trajan's Forum, the largest of them, you will see his magnificent column and a unique market complex standing out on Capitoline Hill. Our tour will end right by the Colosseum, the amphitheatre famous throughout the world which has now become the symbol of the eternal city.
