People’s Square is Shanghai’s main public open space. It’s also the spot from which all road distances to other points in the city, and other locations in China are measured. We’ll take a look at the People’s Park, then follow Nanking Street – which is famous for its upscale boutique shopping and colonial-heritage architecture. Along our way we’ll see the city’s Main Theatre, as well as finding out more about one of colonial-era China’s most popular pastimes – horse-racing.
